Odia Society of Singapore - About
Rememberance & Celebration of Utkala Divasa
The Odia Society of Singapore is a non-political, non-profit, and voluntary community formed in Singapore. Founded in 1998, in Singapore by a small group of Odia expatriates to create a Odia belongingness among Odia people living in Singapore. The Odia community in Singapore key focus is to promote socio cultural activities in Singapore and promote Odisha culture and heritage.
Odia Society of Singapore strives to promote rich cultural heritage of Odisha in Singapore and provides an opportunity for Odia expatriates living in Singapore for social gathering to retain its "Odisha connection".
Odia Society of Singapore organizes two key social gatherings every year.
1. Utkal Divas is the main event to remember the birth of Odisha state
2. Ganesh Puja is celebrated in honour of the elephant-headed god Ganesha.
Apart from these two major events, other festivals like Raja, Holi, Deepabali is also celebrated.
Apart from organizing social gathering, Odia Society of Singapore also actively gets involved in raising relief funds to support natural calamities i.e. cyclone, flood etc.
